A stand up paddleboard (SUP) lesson starts with our experienced bilingual instructor, giving you personalized instruction and demonstrations on the beach. We will thoroughly cover safety, proper posture, stance, paddling techniques and surf Etiquette.
After that, it's water time! You will receive more instruction, demo's and coaching in the water, for up to 2 hours of fun and fitness.
We supply the Stand Up Paddleboard with a leash and a paddle, sized to your height, weight and skill level. We also include a life vest.
Our lessons are taught and conducted at some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica and the world!

Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is fast becoming one of the most popular watersports, especially in locations with flat conditions and beautiful scenery like ours in Costa Rica! Our knowledgeable local instructors will deliver personalized Stand Up Paddle lessons. On the beach, your guide will fit you with a paddle and paddle board before providing some brief instruction both on the sand and in the water.
With our long 10-12 foot Surftech paddle boards, most people generally get the hang of stand up paddle boarding within just a few minutes. Once everyone is comfortable, we’ll push off for a fantastic experience! Stand-Up Paddle boarding is an ancient form of surfing that can be traced back early Polynesia. It's most recent history dates back to the 1940's when the beach boys (surf instructors) on Waikiki beach used to stand up and paddle out to the break using a one bladed paddle. As time moved on board designs and fashions changed, the paddle was all but lost in the history of surfing. These days surfers are rediscovering the benefits of the paddle board. Try your hand at this new sport with a paddle board surf lesson.
All paddle surf equipment is provided. You'll learn everything you need to know to paddle proficiently and safely! Stand Up Paddle Surfing provides an intense full-body workout that builds strength in the body's core muscle groups. Instructors are expert surfers who instruct and monitor you in the water; they are encouraging and vary their teaching methods for different people.
On the sand, you'll learn how to stand up, balance using careful foot placement, how to hold your paddle, and slow down or speed up with gentle weight shifts. After a few practice exercises close to shore, you'll paddle out to the surf zone.
